The Kilimanjaro Regional Business Council (KRBC) has been urged to help the public identify business opportunities available within their localities.

The Executive Secretary of Tanzania Business Council, Danstan Mrutu, told the Regional Business executive committee in Moshi mid last week that they have to work hard to create a conducive business environment.

Mrutu noted that the region has a lot of untapped economic opportunities urging the executive committee to change and bring about good environment for local and foreign investors.

He said Kilimanjaro Mountain is one of the potential economic opportunities in the region, which if properly utilised could transform people’s lives within and outside the region.

``Let`s sit down and look into business opportunities the region has. I am sure we`ll come up with viable projects that can change the region and its neighbours,`` said Mrutu.
He urged Kilimanjaro residents to change their mindsets and begin serious investment in the region.

TNBC is of the view that, there are areas of investments in the region such as communication and technology, that have not yet been touched.

In his remarks, Regional chairman of the Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (TCCIA), Patrick Boisafi, urged the business community to invest heavily in the region rather than over indulge in small-scale industries.

Boisafi said the decision would enable the region to register sustainable economic development.

He said the business environment must change to meet the community needs, thus he urged the business community to embark on selling processed and manufactured goods for more profits.

``We need to restore some of the idle industries in the region,`` he said.
