President Jakaya Kikwete yesterday visited the family of former Tabora Regional Commissioner Ditopile Mzuzuri, who passed away in Morogoro on Sunday morning.

Kikwete paid the family a visit at Ditopile`s Upanga residence in Dar es salaam to deliver his condolences following the former politician`s death, which occurred in a hotel in Morogoro, where he was reportedly residing while on personal and business errands.

He told the family to exercise strength and be patient during this difficult moment when they are mourning their beloved one, who was also a good neighbour and friend to many other Tanzanians.

A family leader, Abdallah Mzuzuri briefed Kikwete that Ditopile would be buried today at Kinyerezi, on the outskirts of the city.

He said his burial had been delayed to wait for his son, Ramadhan, who was expected to jet in from the UK yesterday evening.

``It is a prudent decision you have made to wait for his son, because it is important for him to see his father being laid to his final rest,`` Kikwete told the family.

Abdallah Ditopile, brother to the late former RC, thanked the government for its support to the family.

Other leaders who turned up to console the late Ditopile`s family include Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner Abbas Kandoro, Energy and Minerals deputy minister Adam Malima and former Premier Joseph Warioba.

The funeral procession will start at Tambaza Mosque at 1 pm, where a special prayer for the deceased led by the National Muslim Council of Tanzania (Bakwata) deputy Mufti, Sheikh Abubakar Zubeir, will be said.

The timetable shows that prayers for Ditopile`s body would be conducted between 3 and 3.30pm and the burial activities from 4.30 to 6pm.

According to Morogoro Regional Commissioner Said Kalembo the former Tabora Regional Commissioner and deputy Communications and Transport minister died on Sunday morning at Hilux Hotel in Morogoro Region where he was on a business tour. He died while watching television with his wife in his hotel room.

Ditopile resigned as Tabora RC in 2006 following manslaughter charges he was facing in connection with the fatal shooting of a commuter bus driver in Dar es Salaam on November 4, 2006.
