Prime Minister Mizengo Pinda has said that the government was working on a lasting solution to distrurbances at the Buzwagi gold mine in Kahama District involving nearby villagers and the mine administration.
He however cautioned the villagers against taking the law in their own hands in the course of demanding for their rights.
The premier told the House here yesterday when responding to a question by James Lembeli (Kahama, CCM) who had wanted to know the fate of 14 people who were arrested during recent chaos at the mine.
Pinda said the villagers living around the mining area had all been compensated and an alternative road constructed which they could use instead of the one which crossed the mining area.
``According to the information I have got, these people do not want to use that road. In other words, they don\'t want to vacate the place,`` he said.
The premier said he had already sent the deputy commissioner for mines to Buzwagi to inquire on the nature of the problem.
He also said he would meet with the minister for Energy and Minerals for further discussion on the problem.
Recently Mwendakulima ward residents invaded Buzwagi mining area and caused chaos, resulting in the arrest of fourteen of them.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Mizengo Pinda has said that the government was taking precautions to ensure the country had enough food.
He said among measures being taken was to provide subsidised fertilizer to productive areas.
