The Bagamoyo Secondary School administration has sent packing 25 students involved in causing unrest in the school recently.
Speaking to PST at the weekend, the chairperson of the school board, Mwajuma Masaiganah, said the decision was reached after discovering rampant indiscipline among the students.
She said those 25 sent away are in Form Three, Four and Six, and that 126 students would be transferred to other government secondary schools within the district.
The chairperson explained that the students who have not been victimised and their names are not listed among 126 for transfer should report at the school today accompanied by their parents.
They are asked to bring with them 1000/- as a fine for the damages caused during the riots.
In the riots that ensued on the early hours of April 11, this year, the students are claimed to have set fire that burnt some of the valuables before it was put off.
For the past two years, chaos has been brewing at the school due to lack of facilities to cater for the growing number of students and the ratio of female students compared to their male counterparts.
She cited other reasons that fuel chaos at the school as marijuana smoking, drinking alcohol, drug addiction and inadequate houses for teachers to closely monitor student`s behaviour.
She also blamed the riots on teachers who stay in Dar es Salaam and are not teaching their lessons, but instead concentrate in private tuition.
She asked the relevant authorities in the ministry concerned to take stern measures against the unethical teachers, who get salary for the work that they do not do.
She named 25 expelled students as, Abdul Ally, Benedict Temba, Karosi Daron, Denis Charles, Ferician Mbwafu, Jackson Priscus, Kimanya Joan, Damaseti, John Bosco, Phillipho Philemon, Hillal Hassan, Frank Kaguwo, Samson Musa and Renatus Ngurimi, all Form Fhree students.
Expelled Form Four students were, Alfred Machite, Amblos Jeremia, Sajidu Omary, Primo Silvester, Benjamin George, Shaban Nasoro, Mpoki Mwampeta and Lawrent Kikoka,
She named affected students from Form Six as Onesmo Mpenzile, Deogratius Kisinda, Omary Achi and Brown Nyanza.
