Tanzania pulls out of Ethiopia championships

The national athletics team have pulled out of the 16th Africa Championships which started here yesterday.
A source within the organizing committee said yesterday that they had no reports about the pullout of the team.

The Athletics Tanzania (AT) Secretary General, Suleiman Nyambui, said yesterday that they had no money to send the team to the continental championships.

The team was supposed to leave for Ethiopia on Tuesday before the withdrawal.

The organizers were entitled to pay for the teams` accommodation, meal and local transport while AT was supposed to cater for return air tickets.

This is the second time in less than three weeks AT is failing to send a team in the international event.

They recently failed to send the team in the World Cross Country in Scotland.

Runners who were supposed to go to Ethiopia are Hamis Ali Mukadamu, Marco Joseph, Anold loningo, Ezekiel Jaffar, Samwel Kwaang`w, Jaclyn Sakila, Natalia Elisante, Sarah Ramadhani and Fabiola William.

Others are Faustine Mussa, Fabian Joseph, Janeth John, Damian Chopa and Kulwa Ishanga.
