Laszlo Csaba now drops Odur as the Cranes ready

Tony Odur`s hopes of claiming a Cranes first team place before the World Cup qualifier against Niger were virtually blown yesterday after being excluded from the Tanzania-bound team.

The Bunamwaya striker, and league third top scorer with 11 goals, was the most prominent omission from the 16-man team who were yesterday expected to arrive in Mwanza to play Taifa Stars in an African Championship qualifier in Mwanza tomorrow.

Odur had been a permanent fixture in Laszlo Csaba`s previous Cranes sides. The 24-year-old forward even started against Eritrea last month.

Csaba filled his squad with attack-minded players.

URA FC skipper Johnson Bagoole, who had been discarded since the CECAFA Championships in Tanzania, has been handed a chance to reclaim his place on the team.

Csaba had earlier in the week complained about the absence of key players due to the unending league action.

The Cranes beat Eritrea 5-2 on aggregate while Tanzania edged regional rivals Kenya 2-1 on aggregate.

Players who were expected in Mwanza include Lawrence Ssegawa, Musa Doca, Joseph Owino, Simon Masaba, Dan Wagaluka, Owen Kasule and Anthony Bongole.

Others are Ceaser Okhuti, Ronald Muganga, Peter Makanga, Steven Bengo, Hamza Muwonge, Sam Kawalya, Goeffrey Sserunkuma and Jeremiah Ssebuyira.
