The Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Bernard Membe has urged Tanzanians to attend the up-coming Sullivan Summit while armed with missions to increase their businesses.
Membe said this yesterday at a news conference in Dar es Salaam when he received a USD100,0000 (equivalent to 120m/-) cheque from the CRDB bank in support of government preparations for the meeting.
He said the up-coming Sullivan meeting should be viewed by Tanzanian business community as an essential opportunity to expand their markets and solicit for joint venture from the 3,000 guests expected to attend the meeting.
``My fellow Tanzanians we should prepare ourselves and avoid attending the meeting empty-handed because the meeting is being eyed by many business persons around us, we need to have our company profiles, brochures and business cards well prepared and nicely printed not photocopied,” he stressed.
He said that out of 3,000 participants expected to the meeting, 500 core delegates who have good businesses and opportunity to offer to local companies, will come directly from the US.
Presenting the cheque, the CRDB managing director Dr Charles Kimei thanked the government for appointing CRDB the sole bank to provide services at the meeting.
He said that his bank decided to contribute to the conference preparations because the meeting has great benefit to the country`s development as it would increase more investments.
Dr Kimei said that during the meeting, the CRDB bank Ltd will provide all banking services to the participants including the ATMs and Point of Sale (PoS) in the hotels and shops to enhance convenience to the visitors as well as locals with visa cards.
Likewise, CRDB Bank would be providing money exchange services alongside operating a mobile ATM branch housed in a bullet proof vehicle around the meeting to offer all banking services.
``This service is the first ever to be introduced in the country and the objective is to make the meeting participants happier and relaxed during the entire meeting” Dr Kimei said.
He urged Tanzanians wishing to participate in the meeting to collect and fill in the forms which are available at all branches of CRDB banks throughout the country.
Tanzania is hosting the 8th Sullivan summit early next month in Arusha, an event expected to provide Tanzanians with the opportunity to advertise their potentials in different sectors such as tourism, investment and trade.
Membe advised CRDB bank to continue providing mobile banking services to areas which do not have such services but have higher concentration of people in need of the service after the meeting.
``I would advise for instance to use the mobile branches you are going to initiate during the Sullivan meeting to provide banking services to the villages where you do not currently plan to open branches,`` Membe said.
