Govt appoints spokespersons for ministries

The government has appointed spokespersons for different ministries to improve communication within the ministries and between the public.

Briefing reporters in Dar es Salaam yesterday, Chief Secretary Philemon Luhanjo said appointments of twenty two spokespersons began with immediate effect from May 13, this year.

Luhanjo said responsibilities and working limits for the ministries` appointed spokespersons have been widened. New responsibilities include making public decisions and guidelines made by their respective ministries.

He explained that spokespersons would be responsible to organize and facilitate all meetings within their ministries.

``They will also be responsible to receive and respond to questions directed to their respective ministries,” he said in a statement read on his behalf by State House communication director, Salva Rweyemamu.

According to the new arrangement, spokespersons would effectively participate in decision, policy and regulations making bodies within their ministries.

Luhanjo therefore directed ministries to put in place conducive environment that would make the appointed spokespersons deliver services to the public as intended.

The newly appointed spokespersons are Zamaradi Kawawa (President`s Office - Public Service and Management), Ridhiwan Wema (Ministry of Labour Employment and Youth Development)

Martin Ntemo (Infrastructure Development), Richard Kasuga (Agriculture, Food and Cooperatives) and Ndeny Ulomi (Land, Housing and Human Settlement Development).

Others are Nyabaganga Taraba (Water and Irrigation), Francis Magera (Communication, Science and Technology), Erasto Ching`oro (Community Development, Gender and Children) Nsachris Mwamaja (Health and Social Welfare) Riziki Abraham (Vice President`s Office).

Other spokespersons are Isaac Nantanga (Home Affairs) Dr. Mohammed Bahari (Livestock Development and Fisheries), George Matiko (Natural Resources and Tourism), Major-General Alfred Mbowe (Defense and National Service), Ingiahedi Mduma (Finance and Economic Affairs), Omega Ngole (Constitutional Affairs and Justice).

Others are David Kirway (Prime Minister`s Office), Peter Stanslaus (Industry, Trade and Marketing); Kharist Luanda (Prime Minister`s Office, Regional Administration and Local Government); Jacob Tesha (Information, Culture and Sports); Flora Bilauri (East African Community) and Magdalena Kishiwa (Education and Vocational Training).
