Taifa Stars left for Uganda yesterday without their three key players ready to play The Cranes in the Africa Cup of Nations, return leg match to be staged at Nakivubo Stadium tomorrow.

They are captain Henry Joseph, Abdi Kassim `Babi` and Shabani Dihule.

A source within the team said that the players remained in Dar es Salaam with other five who play soccer abroad to train for the 2010 World Cup qualifying match against Mauritius set for May 31.

The source said the three remained because they were nursing injuries.

Players who left are Ivo Mapunda, Farouk Ramadhani, Nadir Haroub, Fred Mbuna, Shadrack Nsajigwa, Adam Kingwande, Mrisho Ngasa, Emmanuel Gabriel, Shabani Nditi, Salum Sued, Stephen Mwasyika, Godfrey Bonny, Kigi Makasi and Athumani Iddi.

Others are Jerry Tegete, Kelvin Yondani, Juma Jabu, Uhuru Selemani, Amir Maftah and Ulimboka Mwakingwe.

Officials who left with the team are the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) first president Crescentius Magori, Ahmed Mgoyi (TFF executive committee member), Fredrick Mwakalebela (TFF Secretary-General), Marcio Maximo (head coach), Ally Bushiri (assistant coach), Itamar Amorim (coach), Juma Sufiani (physician) and Leopald Mukebezi (manager).

Taifa Stars won 2-0 in the first leg match staged at CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza two weeks ago.

Any kind of draw will make them advance to the next stage of the tournament made for domestic players only. Uganda will need to win 3-0 for them to qualify.
The winners of the match will play either Sudan or Rwanda in the next stage.
