The society has been urged to come forward and offer its support to needy people, particularly those living with disabilities, so that their suffering can be mitigated.
Tanzania Resources and Assessment Centre for Disabled Children (TRACED) official Ramadhan Mbonia made the call on Tuesday when presenting supporting gear to people living with disabilities in Dar es Salaam.
Mbonia said support by the community to needy people would remove stigma and suffering they experienced in their daily life.
He promised that his organisation would continue giving wheelchairs and other supportive gear to people with disabilities in order to support community initiatives in helping disabled elderly in the country.
At the function TRACED handed over a wheelchair valued at 330,000/- to Situmai Mavukilo in an effort to facilitate her movements.
``The community has a moral responsibility to ensure that problems confronting people with disabilities are minimised through the offering of daily and other needs,`` he said.
Receiving the donation on behalf of persons living with disabilities, cell leader Martin Ngalawa said he was delighted by the humanitarian act shown by TRACED in offering wheelchairs to persons living with disabilities in his area.
He urged other organisations to emulate TRACED and should come forward to help needy persons so that they could enjoy normal life.
``We have a number of persons living with disabilities in our area``, he said.
