Who is protecting the albino killers?

The spate of witchcraft killings which continues unabated in Tanzania, in spite of several government pronouncements and condemnations, is a matter that should not be left to continue unabated.
We are continually hearing about the cold-blooded killings of albinos by people who do so apparently at the behest of seers and soothsayers.
That this practice is mushrooming within our society at a time when the rest of the world is busy accommodating itself into the new era of science and technology is a shocking testimony of our inherent brutality.
Time has come for us to make an assessment as to how we have strayed that far.
We are now in the age of globalization, which, apart from its abundant benefits, has also come with attachment to materialistic values and possessions.
What we are seeing now in our midst is an all pervading spirit of consumerism and materialism, whereby the economic well-being of a person appears to be the sole purpose in life.
Now this concept is an evil of its own, precisely because the attainment of materialistic possessions and positions of power in our society appears to override even the sanctity of life, as people go to great lengths to consult spiritists, soothsayers, sorcerers and what have you to give them the secret key to instant wealth
The solution that usually comes out from such ill-intended consultations for the sake of attaining ill-gotten wealth usually ends with cold-blooded murders of innocent people.
Right now, it is rumoured that people who are paying for services of seers and soothsayers are actually the ones responsible for the wave of killings of albinos.
However one may want to justify this development, it suffices to state that such uncouth actions amount to an assault on both civilization and the human race.
What is even stranger is that we have hardly seen a case of albino killers appearing before the courts and being penalised accordingly.
This implies that there is more to it than the eye can meet, and perhaps those who are supposed to nip the problem in the bud could also be part and parcel of the whole evil undertaking.
It seems that it is easier to nab sophisticated criminals like bank robbers and highway gangsters than arresting a single albino killer.
This is where the question mark lies.
Are the albino murderers so powerful? Who is protecting them? Is it simply true that the whole society is indifferent to the plight of albinos in Tanzania, who are being hunted like animals?
Once again, we call up the albinos to come to their own defence through their umbrella organisation by networking with genuine human right groups to commission private detectives so that the ringleaders of this disgusting and very inhuman industry are brought to book.
To the human right groups, we urge them not to burn all their energy on political issues or injustices alone but to come to the defence of totally hapless communities that are being sought to be killed by fellow human beings for no good reason right here in Tanzania.
