2008-07-25 10:15:35
By Jackson Kimambo, PST, Moshi.

A Chinese tourist whose name could not be immediately established has disappeared while climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.

Tanzania National Parks Director Gerald Bigurube confirmed the report yesterday, explaining that the tourist went missing on July 17, this year.

Bigurube said the person was in a group of 17 tourists visiting the country when he disappeared.

He said efforts to relocate him were still going on.

Eye witnesses said that right from the beginning, the climber always moved away from the group and wanted to be alone.

Kilimanjaro Regional Police Commander Lucas Ng’hoboko said he was yet to receive any information on the disappearance of the mountain climber.
