Residents of Temeke Gezaulole in Dar es Salaam have reasons to smile after some of them started to acquire modern houses being constructed with the assistance of an organisation called Tanzania Mortgage Company (TMC).

TMC Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Charles Inyangete told \'The Guardian\' at the weekend that at least 110 residents had benefited from the said houses.

He said the houses were in a number of categories, some being single storey and others just ordinary houses with purchase price ranging between USD50,000 and 350,000.

``Our organisation intends to help more Tanzanians improve their housing needs once completion of some 200 scheduled additional houses is ready. The project will be ready in less than three years at Kisota Kigamboni in the same district,`` he said.

Inyangete disclosed further that TMC would extend its services to other regions in the country so that more people could benefit from its programme.

The company requires a person to be Tanzanian in addition to being prepared to part with USD50,000 and 350,000 for a single unit.

The costs however depends upon the size, location and construction costs of the house.
