Love leads to death

Police in Coast Region have arrested Simon Mangule (25), a peasant of Mchukwi village in Rufiji District, for allegedly killing a fellow peasant, Sudi Kassim Kiyohela (25) on May 13, this year at Ngalengwa suburb in Jaribu Mpakani village.

The Regional Police Commander, Ally Mohamed Mbilikira, said yesterday that Mangule allegedly killed Kiyohela after stabbing him with a knife at 7.45 pm. He said the two were quarrelling over a woman named Juliana Vincent.

He said each one of them was claiming that she was his fiancée and consequently the two started a fight whereby Mangule stabbed Kiyohela on the chest and on the back.

Mangule was arrested by the police and will be taken to court to answer charges of murder.

Meanwhile, the RPC said that the police were looking for a hit and run driver after knocking to death a pedestrian, one Mwanaidi Abdallah (28) at 6.30 pm at Mandela village along Chalinze-Segera road in Bagamoyo District.

The RPC said Mwanaidi who was a Miono village executive died on the spot.

The vehicle knocked her sped off. The police are investigating the incident, he added.
