Indian Expatriate Primary School tops in quiz contest

The Indian Expatriate Primary School in Dares Salaam was yesterday awarded books and 50 US dollars after emerging the winner in the Inter-parimary School quiz competition.

The second winner was Lions Magomeni Primary while the third was Aga Khan Primary, both of which received books. The quiz competition involved current affairs, general knowledge, sports, arts, science languages and pictures (visual).

The Headmaster of Shaaban Robert Secondary School, who was the host of the competition, Suryakant Ramji, told the Sunday Observer that all the primary schools in Dar es Salaam were eligible to participate and each school is represented by two pupils.

’’The awards given are not for the students, but for the schools,’’ he said.
In this fifth inter-primary school competition, 13 schools participated —Indian Expatriate, Lion Magomeni, Muhimbili, Mwalimu Nyerere, Oysterbay, Shree Hindu Mandal, Zanaki, Yemen English Medium, Diamond, Bilal Comprehensive, al Madrasa Tus Saifiya Tul Burhaniyah and Aga Khan .

India Expatriate was represented by Dev Dua and Jithin Donny George, Lion Magomeni by Shaban Kibarati and William Nesphory while Malika Ladhu and Salmaan Karim were representatives for Aga Khan primary School.

The competition was aimed at bringing schools together to examine their academic levels.
The inter primary school quiz was sponsored by Shiraz Rashid of Africarriers, Lions club ad TAMONGSCO, a Non Governmental Organisation dealing with Education.
