Opportunities available for studies abroad

By Correspondent Nasser Kigwangallah

Tanzanian students aspiring to attain excellence in their studies have been urged to search for opportunities abroad where they could be trained in their fields of their liking.

The call to that effect was made by Khatton-nissa Kapasi, the director of a Dar es Salaam based University Placement Service, (ICON) in an interview with the Sunday Observer in her office yesterday.

She said a number of admissions to overseas colleges that fit students’ career choices and budgets are available at Plattsburgh State University of New York in the United States of America.

She said the Icon, being the official representative of Suny Plattsburgh in Tanzania, encourages local students to have an exposure with other international students in research projects.

’’It gives a student an opportunity to foster teamwork skills, enjoys the freedom of independent study, and adds a noteworthy item to his/her resume after graduating,’’ Kapasi noted.

She pointed out that since 2004, Icon has managed to send more than 21 Tanzanian students to the US and many of them have graduated and more are going there this year.
