The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Said Mwema, will next Tuesday meet executives and senior editors of local media organs at the Millennium Towers Hotel in Dar es Salaam.

According to a press release issued by the Media Council of Tanzania (MCT) issued yesterday, a copy of which was availed to the Sunday Observer, the meeting aims at creating a conducive and sustainable collaborative environment between the media and the police.

’’The past shows that the two institutions have been working in an unfriendly, lack of trust and antagonistic environment,’’ reads part of the statement in part, quoting MCT’s Executive Secretary, Anthony Ngaiza.

The statement, however, stated that the new IGP has called for the situation being brought to an end to pave way for the new era of sustainable collaboration between the two institutions.
