By Frank Mbunda and Pascal Shao

The Kinondoni Regional Police Force has fired three police officers of Mpakani police post at Mabibo in Dar es Salaam for allegedly stealing 80, 000/- from a suspect who had been locked up in a cell there on August 7, this year.

The officers allegedly stole the money from Dennis Mbuge (32), a resident of Mbagala Kiburugwa who was arrested and was obliged to surrender whatever items he had at the counter.

The ’culrpits’ are Corporate Rashid, Corporate Juma and Constable Ambrose, who will face a court martial.

The move follows a disclosure made to this newspaper by Mbuge, and subsequent complaints submitted to the Kinondoni Regional Police Commander, Jamal Rwambow.

Investigations conducted on instructions from Rwambow are reported to have established that the officers in question had stolen Mbuge’s money.

They had allegedly also stolen a mobile phone handset, which they surrendered to detectives.

RPC Rwambow said that the step taken by his region will be a lesson to other police officers who do not adhere to the police ethics.
