Names of Singida accident victims released

Names of casualties of the ill-fated Mwanza-bound bus from Dar es Salaam that caught fire after its front tyre burst at Kindai area near Singida town on Friday, were disclosed yesterday.
Police in Singida the deceased were Mohamed Jafa, Ayoub Kiwanuka, Lucy Mabula, Chris Biseko, Khadela Mayumba, Kimalo Sichumwi, Haruna Siperi and Andrew Mahunde.
Singida Deputy Regional Police Commander Lawrence Tarimo also named Mwanaila Hassani, Martina Mboya, George Mwinzagi, Monica Mwaputwa, Eaos Bibios better known as Mzungu, Laitoni Mlokozi, Mutalamila and Innocent Buberwa as other victims.
The police, however, cautioned that some of the passengers aboard the Mohamed Trans bus with registration ante T423 AFW had used the tickets of other people, making it difficult to identify the dead with absolute certainty.
Tarimo named the 47 on the list of the injured as Paschal Siprian, Mudy Rashidi, Innocent Rweyemamu, George Mabula, Consolata Mbonde, Samson Mbezi, Mohamed Omari, Sudi Huseni and Plaxeda Rweyemamu.
Others are Frida Mohamedi, John Mwendambazu, Catherin Limba,Sister Brigita Thomas,David Katunde,Dr Adonia Makunja, Mussa Augostine, Mussa Said, Fatuma Wilbad,Sopha Salumu, Chago Mpianjo and Julieth Fredy.
The list also includes Elias Charles, Witness Piter, Emannuel Mwinza, Mery Mtambo, Nickson Ludovicki, Jane Masania,Angela Sostenes,Andrew John,Grace Evarest,Mussa Saidi,Paulina Jobu and Paul Joseph.
Ther rest are Jovita Sebastian, Ignas Lelitiz,Katunda Daudi,Mngeja Isaah,Steven Meja, Kweba Piter,Elifoo Maujadusi,Gabriel Kaiza Mzirai,Touwa Henry,Adasa Piter, Magdalena Manyanga,Inshamba Edwin,Mariamu Sagati and Kishimba Edwin.
According to Singida Regional Medical Officer Dr Aubrey Mushi, the condition of almost all the injured persons is improving save for that of David Katunga whose condition was deteriorating, as well as that of a young child whose name was not immediately known. The police are holding the driver of the bus for questioning.
