Matumla to defend his title next Sunday

National Boxing champion, Hassan Matumla will next Sunday defend his title when he takes on Francis Suba of Mbeya in a national boxing championship bout set to take place at the PTA, Hall in Dar es Salaam.
The event coordinator, Leila Bhanji said yesterday that apart from looking for the Tanzanian championship, the tournament would be used to cement ties between Dar es Salaam and Mbeya boxers.
``The fight has been approved by the Tanzania Pugilist Syndicate (PST), the national professional boxing federation,``Bhanji said.
Bhanji said Suba has been training in Dar es Salaam along with his rival-Matumla.
He noted that the ten-round battle will be preceded by under cards where Hassan’s young brother, Mkwanda Matumla from Dar es Salaam will fight Morogoro`s Deo Njiku in a ten-round light welter weight bout, as Obote Ameme takes on Khamis Hajja both of Dar es Salaam. They will meet in a four round Super bantam weight clash.
