The Tanzania Tea Packers Ltd this week announced an interim dividend of Sh 100 to be paid in November this year.

The TATEPA Managing Director, George Theobald told the Guardian on Sunday that for the six months which ended in June this year the company earned a profit before tax of 1.7 billion/= and trading remained favourable.

He said the interim dividend is in addition to the dividend paid in July/August this year for Sh 45 per share.

He said TATEPA Board, depending upon the full year performance of the company may consider a further final dividend for the year 2007.

`` The exciting news with this interim dividend of Sh 100 is that it brings cumulative dividends paid out since our float in 1999 to a total of Sh. 345 making returns to shareholders from dividends a greater sum than those original shareholders paid at the time of floating ( Sh 330),`` he said.

The firm was the first private company to be listed on the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange and to acquire equity in a tea estate through a share swap in March that substantially raised its capital base.
