Arusha orphans get assistance

Orphans at Living Water Children and Shalom centres in Arusha were recently given an assortment of consumables donated by Arusha-based Orphans Foundation Fund (OFF), a civil society organization and Victoria Expedition Company.
The donation which included rice, sugar, milk, flour, cooking oil, margarine and other durables were handed over the centres by Miss Tanzania third runner-up Victoria Martin Leopold, who is on a tour of the region.
The Director of Living Water Children Centre, Mama Kimaro, said issues concerning orphans was a responsibility of each individual, institutions and the government.
``We should all think of the situation of orphans and be ready to assist them,`` she said when receiving the donations.
Speaking during the ceremony, Thabiti Karwani of Orphans Foundation Fund, said institute has embarked on a programme to provide the orphans and street children with proper diet for healthy growth.
He said the only means to help these disadvantaged section of the society is to fight for their rights and well being.
