HIV Positive woman becomes desperate

HIV Positive Rose Temu is desperate. She is increasingly losing hope, partly because the daily ARV dose she takes to prolong life augments her burden as she cannot afford regular meals.

The story of Temu, who now goes by her maiden name Rose Limu following the death of husband some years back, typifies the life of stigmatized people because of their HIV status.

The 39-year old jobless widow steered her way into Dar es Salaam last year from Arusha where she claims she suffered endless jeers from neighbours.

I am upset and desperate. My mind is getting affected! I have no place to run to nor anyone for help, Rose, who once tried her luck working in a salon, said in an interview when she visited this newspaper.

Born at Kihanji Village in Singida on the eve of Christmas in 1968, Rose Limu lived with her husband in Arusha, but when events turned against her she left the tourist city to Kibamba in Dar es Salaam before shifting to Tegeta where she is putting up residence, thanks to the courtesy of Good Samaritans.

She is appealing to civil society organisations dealing with people of her status to come to her aid.
