One killed over rustling in Morogoro

One person was killed and several others injured allegedly by Maasai herdsmen at Mvumi village in Kilosa district over the week-end.

According to sources, the man was killed as he was trying to trace his stolen heads of cattle.

Kilosa district officials have named the deceased as Salum Hassan (60), a watchman at Mvumi Primary School in the district.Reports said before the killing there was an earlier theft of 20 heads of cattle by unknown people.

It was later believed that the Masaai living in the neighbourhood had stolen them.

The Morogoro Regional Commissioner Major General ( retired) Said Kalembo has confirmed the incident and said efforts were being made to net the alleged thugs.

The Dodoma Regional Police Commander Thobias Andengenye has said the cattle stolen belonged to John Lusambo (60), a resident of the Kivungu village in the district.
