Experts have commended the new cabinet but urged the government to make further changes of key administrative positions in its various institutions, a move that would give more confidence to investors.

They said the President this time considered the professional competence of appointees to ministerial positions but said he should also shake up other areas of governance.

He has very well lived up to the expectations of the people.

He has formed these ministries in conformity with the country`s economic situations said Dr Haji Semboja of the Economic Research Bureau at the University of Dar es Salaam.

We are hopeful they are going to deliver as expected. But we urge for more changes in other executive positions such as permanent secretaries, and other senior officials.

Dr Semboja was hopeful that the face of the government would encourage more investments into the country as there will be efficiency in resource management and monitoring.

On his part, the President of Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (TCCIA) Eng. Alloys Mwamanga was hopeful that agriculture would be given respectable consideration.

The formation of the ministry of water and irrigation development is a sign of hope to agriculture. Areas that relied on rainwater for farming would definitely benefit from these plans, said Eng.Mwamanga.

Proper irrigation system would boost agriculture and attract investments in agro-processing industries in the country. It`s a good sign of seriousness but more importantly we await implementations.

The TCCIA president was also optimistic that industries and commerce would get a boost under its new minister Dr Mary Nagu, who has a background of serving in industries before.

The government`s decision to form a portfolio that would strictly deal with water and irrigation development is viewed as a response to a call that was repeatedly made by MPs, many coming from suitable farming land but with no proper farming skills.
