Jerome Bwanaussi, Mayor of Temeke Municipality, is hailing civil society organisation Pathfinder for its house-to-house care for ailing people which he says has recorded tremendous success.

Bwanaussi recently presented prizes of corrugated iron sheets to four winners who excelled in providing house-to-house service for people suffering from long-drawn-out illnesses.

He says persistent ill health is affecting economic activities at the family level subsequently threatening the national economy as additional resources are required to care for the sick people.

``I would like to pay tribute to Pathfinder for initiating the new house-to-house service approach that makes it possible for ailing people based in different families to have access to medical treatment to save lives,`` said Bwanausi.

Dr. Mashombo Mkamba, Temeke Municipal Medical Officer, said: ``Many lives have been saved in the course of house-to-house medical services provided in four wards. Many ailing people were reached and received medical treatment.``
