Voices of women, children and the unheard voices will be heard at a national level following an authorization for Tanzania Media Women Association (TAMWA) to start a radio station.

The station will air programmes with the aim of educating the mass on human rights, women and children, deputy minister Dr. Lucy Nkya said yesterday in Dar es Salaam, challenging TAMWA to speed the radio project.

``Yours is an organization of professionals. Apply your profession to start an institution of women, a women`s radio, so that the voice of the downtrodden is heard. The ministry will support you on this,`` the minister advised at the 20th jubilee of TAMWA.

First Lady Salma Kikwete launched the new offices of the organization at Sinza Mori in Dar es Salaam City where she also led a fundraising event towards the construction of a modern library and information centre estimated to cost 60m/-.
At the event yesterday over 42m/- was collected in cash and pledges.
