Leaders of the Civic United Front say they will on Monday visit the offices of the Commission for Leadership Ethics to demand forms filled by the Minister for Infrastructure, Andrew Chenge detailing his property.

The minister is alleged to have deposited 1.2bn/-in an offshore bank account in Jersey in the UK.

The opposition party leaders who were addressing a peaceful procession and later a mass rally in Dar es Salaam yesterday, said they will demand the forms filled by former President Benjamin Mkapa and ex-Governor of BoT, Daudi Balali.

The opposition party leader also said resolution of the current political stalemate over Zanzibar lay in the hands of President Jakaya Kikwete.

``We hope that when the president comes back from his tour abroad he will settle the current political standoff over the issue of the accord between the ruling CCM party and its rival Civic United Front for a peaceful settlement of the stalemate in Zanzibar,`` said leading opposition figures.

President Kikwete returned to Dar es salaam on Friday night after a tour of India, China and the United Nations, where he addressed the UN Security Council as AU Chairman.

The teams from the two parties negotiating the accord recommended the formation of a government of national unity in Zanzibar.

But the National Executive Committee of CCM resolved that the issue be voted on by the people through a referendum, sparking the anger of the opposition CUF.

Seif Shariff Hamad, Secretary General of CUF said: ``We have played our part in the talks but are very disturbed by CCM`s habit of disrupting the talks now and then.

What we demand is for CCM to sign the agreement reached between the two parties.``
