Esnat Anthony has never seen the inside of a classroom and has therefore started breeding local chicken to get money for food and to pay someone who could give her the rudimentary of primary school education.
Already 17-year old Esnat has learnt that it is never too late to learn.
Her parents separated when she was still an infant. Her mother could not earn money to pay for her school.
``When I found how my fellow girls were attending school and at times hear them speak a foreign language, I felt that life has been very unfair to me.
I also saw women driving cars and this encouraged me to start afresh,`` she says.
She has therefore bought a hen and a rooster so that they could multiply,`` she says adding, ``already the hen has seven chicks.`` She says she will also make a shelter to house the chicks.
It is a good start for her. As she waits for the chicks to multiply, she already knows how to write her name although her handwriting is still poor.
``Look, this is may name`` she enthusiastically told this reporter as she scribbled her name on a blank piece of paper.
She hears that there is a government programme to educate people at the age of 16 who have missed their primary school education. They have to buy their own exercise books though.
She is more than ready. Her biggest prayer is that the chicken she is keeping is not wiped out by diseases.
``I will consult those who are experienced in poultry keeping,`` she says
