The national power utility company (Tanesco) intends to announce to the public names of individuals and institutions accumulating their bills in a new move aimed at boosting swift bill settlements.
At present the company is compiling the list of defaulters which will be made public through various media outlets by next month, Tanesco Public Communications Manager Badra Masoud said from Dodoma.
``The defaulters are directly and indirectly exploiting good customers. The company is now armed for an action that will pay dividends; debts will obviously be settled by all means,`` Badra said with determined confidence, although she could not say how much the company is owed.
She said Tanesco would emulate the city water utility company Dawasco in dealing with defaulting clients, some of whom were giant manufacturing plants and service providers.
A few months ago Dawasco had taken bold measures by disconnecting water to defaulters in settling consumption and service charges.
Badra was then its Public Relations Manager.
