Mwanza
Leaders of different religious denominations in Geita and Sengerema districts have vowed to help the government in its fight against corruption and abuse of power.

Bishop Musa Magwesela of the African Inland Church, Geita Diocese, said at the end of a one-day seminar which also incorporated Muslim clergies from two districts on Wednesday that religious leaders have resolved to take part in the war against corruption to save people from abject poverty.

During the seminar, held at the conference hall of the Anglican Church in Geita Township, the religious leaders said they would do so to save the country\'s economy and its people who continued to languish in poverty, while the country had plenty of resources.

Magwesela said religious leaders would also entrench themselves in educating their spiritual followers on condemning the current wave of murders involving albinos in the Lake Zone, particularly Mwanza Region.

``It is the responsibility of the government to ensure that services to members of the public are improved, and that people receive equal shares of the country\'s natural resources,`` he said.

Earlier, during the seminar\'s deliberations, Reverend Thomas Godda, the Coordinator of Religious Denominations for the Christian Council of Tanzania (CCT), said it was high time to religious leaders to deliver to society what was expected of them.

``Religious leaders are vested with immense responsibilities in assisting the government to combat social vices,`` he said.

He said better life for Tanzanians, was only possible if the leaders were serious in their words and deeds.
