10 million Airtel Money subscribers start receiving 2.01bn/-‘dividend'

SOME 10 million Airtel Money platform subscribers have started receiving through their mobile wallets part of the over 2.01bn/- earned in profits made during the third quarter of last year.

Announcing the good news in Dar es Salaam mid this week, Airtel Money Director, Isack Nchunda said those who qualify for a share of the spoils are only those whose mobile money accounts were active between July and September 2021.

“We are extremely gratified to see the growth of Airtel Money users day after day as the platform continues to be a major foundation for their economic activities. We are currently disbursing billions of shillings to our customers who have been using the platform during the period. These payments go directly into their Airtel Money accounts,” Nchunda said.

He said the profit will be paid to individual customers, retail agents and business partners based on their Airtel Money wallet transactions Nchunda said the share of interest payment will depend on the level of activity the user has had on Airtel Money for the said period and involve transfers, bill payments and airtime purchases.

“This revolutionary mobile money platform has played a huge role in building final inclusion and access to services in the country. Women and youth have seen the ease and convenience of using Airtel Money and are taking advantage of the numerous services that simplify and improve their lives,” the Airtel Money Director added.

“It has also been a key resource empowering small businesses. For us at Airtel Tanzania Plc, our priority is to make sure that this platform remains the most agile and responsive to customer needs,” he added.
