The Wild Frontiers Managing Director, John Addison, whose company is the main organizer of the marathon said participants from over 40 countries are expected to attend the annual event hence the business community in the municipality should seize the opportunity and offer the best in goods and services.
Addison said more than 8000 participants are expected to feature in the event which qualifies the event as a true international marathon.
“With most international arrivals choosing to stay on and either climb Kilimanjaro mountain afterwards or else explore the vast plains of the Serengeti, while some are choosing to relax and enjoy the post race experience of chill weather of Kilimanjaro or move on to warm sandy beaches of Zanzibar,” he said.
He called on all stakeholders involved to ensure they take advantage of this time to do serious business.
“People are spending a huge amount of forex to come and explore this amazing country and we have to make that experience a good one, so that they come back,” he said.
“All businesses especially food, hotels transport and so on will record high sales as all this will be fully utilized by the thousands of people who will participate in the marathon,” he said.
Kilimanjaro Premium Lager Marathon is now in its 14th year and is normally held at the end of February and usually makes Moshi a bee hive of activities.
