Finca kick-starts TV competition targeting micro-entrepreneurs

A television program targeting to award 10m/- to an entrepreneur who comes up with a good business proposal was launched by Finca Microfinance Bank in Dar es Salaam on Saturday.

The program which seeks to empower micro-entrepreneurs by providing business skills is dubbed ‘Kuza ofisi na Finca,’ and was initially implemented in Dar es Salaam’s four districts of Kinondoni, Ilala, Temeke and Ubungo.

Speaking during the launch Finca Microfinance Bank Tanzania’s Head of Marketing and Communications, Nicholous John said the main aim is to give micro-entrepreneurs financial knowledge and skills.

“The winner out of the program and competition will be financially empowered to jumpstart their own micro-businesses,” said John who revealed that the competition enters the second phase with eight contestants handpicked by a panel of judges.

“Kuza ofisi na Finca,’ will be aired on TVE and hosted by E-fm radio presenter Emmanuel Kapanga. John said the TV show will also be used to sensitize entrepreneurs on financial management basics.

“The lucky winner will scoop the prize while other qualified participants will also stand a chance to access loans from Finca Bank,” the Marketing Head noted.

On his part, the bank’s Chief Commercial Officer, Emmanuel Mongella said the campaign is part of Finca’s way to celebrate 20 years of operations in the country during which it offered tailor made solutions through different accounts.

“Financial inclusion and digital innovations are at the core of our business, the competition is another testimony that Finca Microfinance Bank is instilling in Tanzanians as an institution geared at supporting them through financial products,” Mongella noted.

Mongella also commended entrepreneurs who have qualified to participate in the competition saying it will help them grow their businesses. “Things are looking bright for everybody, there is a lot of anticipation and determination so I urge the public to tune in on TVE,” the Chief Commercial Officer stressed.
