First ‘Tigo Jigiftishe’ weekly winner is Dar resident

A maiden winner of ‘Tigo Jigiftishe’ weekly draw, is Changanyikeni based, David Mmuni of Dar es Salaam who took away a 10m/- cash prize last Friday.

Tigo Tanzania which kick-started the promotion last week to award its Tigo Pesa subscribers as part of Christmas and New Year’s season, targets to make 450 millionaires through daily and weekly draws for the next 45 days till end of December this year.

Mmuni who is on wheel chair because of poor health, was unable to say a word but simply managed to smile when he was handed with the 10m/- dummy cheque.

But his brother, Oscar Mmuni said the winning call that his brother received from Tigo while admitted at Moshi based KCMC Hospital.

The junior Mmuni said his brother has a habit of buying 2,000/- internet bundle everyday through Tigo Pesa to watch television programs.

“David could not receive the call because he is sick and when I received it on his behalf, I first thought it was from conmen because it was unbelievable.

However, after several calls from then I started believing,” he narrated. Tigo Pesa Head of Products, James Sumari said 70 customers have so far walked away with 1m/- each.

Sumari noted that a total of 600m/- has been set aside for the promotion and encouraged subscribers to frequently use Tigo Pesa services to win.

“Tigo Pesa customers who reload or cash-in using the platform or goods and services stand a chance to win a 1m/- daily prize or 10m/-weekly,” Sumari stated.
