NAS Dar Airco was awarded a 10-year concession to provide comprehensive ground handling and cargo management services at airports in Tanzania.

NAS Dar Airco currently serves three major airports in Tanzania including Dar es Salam, Kilimanjaro and Dodoma. The company’s operations are reinforced by 256 employees and a fleet of 57 ground support equipment.

In 2018, the company handled 7,000 flights, 467,000 bags, 700 tons of cargo and 515,000 passengers with an on-time performance (OTP) of 98.9 percent. A 43% operational growth versus 2017, handling international airlines such as Fly Dubai, Ethiopian Airlines and Rwanda Air among a list of growing customers, as well as a strong partnership with the national carrier, Air Tanzania as their preferred ground handler, demonstrates the company’s success in contributing to the growth of the aviation sector in the country.

Miguel Serra, General Manager, NAS Dar Airco highlighted “Till date, NAS Dar Airco has invested over $10,000,000 into infrastructure and equipment, talent development and training, technology, safety and security, with an aim to provide high quality services at different airports in the country. For the next three years, NAS has earmarked $50 million for investment into the African region and we remain committed to the success of our operation in Tanzania.”

NAS recently handled the new Air Tanzania Airbus A220-300 aircraft, on its first flight in Africa, marking another milestone in the country.

Serra added “The Tanzanian aviation industry has great growth potential especially with airports like Dar, which can easily become a regional hub with its planned expansion in 2019 and the development of the national carrier. The government has set up a great aviation ecosystem and we are pleased to be working closely with the Tanzania Airport Authority as well as our airline partners during this era of development. “

Globally, NAS has a presence in more than 35 airports, handling seven out of the world’s top 10 airlines and managing 31 airport lounges in 17 countries across the Middle East, Asia and Africa.

National Aviation Services (NAS) is the fastest growing aviation services provider in the emerging markets.

Established in 2003, NAS quickly transformed from a Kuwait based ground handling company into an emerging markets leader in the industry. NAS is present in over 35 airports across the Middle East, Africa and Asia, handling seven of the world’s top 10 airlines and managing more than 31 airport lounges.

With an employee base of over 8,000 capable and experienced employees at the core of its worldwide network, NAS is committed to providing aviation services that benchmark to the best in the world.
