WOMEN’s empowerment through financing growth of their businesses is in line with the government’s plan to liberate the group economically.

Nyamagana District Commissioner, Dr Philis Nyimbi said in Mwanza yesterday during at AccessBank Tanzania meeting for business women, that most of the businesses are run by women but get less support from lenders.

Dr Nyimbi commended AccessBank Tanzania for initiating the movement to promoted business women promising her full support to such initiatives.

“AccessBank’s initiative is in line with President John Magufuli’s government efforts to empower women and give them financial freedom,” she noted.

Speaking at the forum, AccessBank’s CEO, Armando Sirola noted that, the bank backs women’s businesses because it wants to see them grow.

“We want to connect, be closer and promote women in business, since we want to see them succeed. Bottom line: women clients are more risk adverse, reliable, trustworthy and overall a very good market segment to tap in,” said Sirola.

He urged women to change their mindset regarding his bank and instead consider it as a good business partner. “This is why we have brought with us Jennifer Bashwas; she is the co-founder and CEO of Alaska Tanzania Industries Limited, she is a popular businesswoman and excellent business coach with lots of experience running her own manufacturing and agro business,” he added while noting that a similar business forum is scheduled for Mbeya city in June.

The forum was organized in partnership with the European Investment Bank with Jennifer Bashwas as main business trainer who urged peers to trust AccessBank as a reliable business partner.

“AccessBank is on a drive to help women in business via loans for or saving aggressively to achieve your personal goals, these training sessions provide a platform to promote good leadership within your business as well as your personal lives,” Bashwas said.
