Shein calls for promotion of private sector in Z’bar

​​​​​​​ZANZIBAR President Dr Ali Mohamed Shein has called upon the private sector to continue cooperating with the government to promote the business sector.

Dr Shein made the call at the opening ceremony of the Sheikh Thabit Kombo building which has been built jointly by the ruling  party CCM and the Zanzibar Social Security Fund (ZSSF).

He said to achieve growth in the business sector; the government will continue to improve businesses and investment environment.

“CCM’s election manifestos for the 2015-2020 and 2020-2025 general elections emphasises on strengthening the tourism, trade and transport sectors; we have largely succeeded to achieve the targeted goals”, he noted.

Dr Shein said that he was impressed by the ongoing opening of shops at the Michenzani area insisting the development is a result of the construction of  Thabit Kombo building.

He called upon the residents to vote for CCM presidential candidate since the party is committed to ensure development for Zanzibaris.

The President asserted that there are plans to further develop  Michenzani area through construction of houses and business centres. He said the area was previously known for accommodating entertainment and recreational centres including the ‘African Dancing Club’.

In another development, Dr Shein appreciated traders and investors for paying their taxes on time saying the monies are crucial in implementation of various development projects.

 He said the new building has been christened after Sheikh Thabit Kombo due to his great contribution in Zanzibar’s development when he was a leader in the Afro-Shirazi Party (ASP) and CCM.

Earlier, Minister of Finance and Planning, Ambassador Mohamed Ramia Abdiwawa said the Zanzibar Social Security Fund (ZSSF) was responsible for its members as well as the entire Zanzibar community.

Vice Chairman of the CCM Board of Trustees, Pandu Ameir Kificho said: “It is now the responsibility of CCM to oversee operations of the building. We are hopeful that this partnership will result into many more projects,”

CCM Deputy General Secretary, Dr Abdallah Juma Sadalla commended Dr Shein for making sure the building  was constructed  to the required standards.
