Swiss base Augusta Energy wins July BPS tender

SWISS based Augusta Energy SA won the latest bulk procurement tender to supply petroleum products for the month of July.

Petroleum Bulk Procurement Agency declared Augusta as the latest winner after submitting the lowest bid of US$44.2 per tonne weighted average against Addax Energy SA’s US$ 45.7 per tonne for.

Augusta will supply 191,629 MT of diesel, 123,993MT of petrol,22,499MT of Jet A1 and 3,550MT of kerosene for the period.

A PBPA official said, “Trafigura purchased tender documents but did not return them while Sahara Energy have been suspended pending outcome of an investigation into Jet A1 which they supplied last month.”

Trafigura failed to beat the submission deadline and were automatically disqualified while Sahara Energy who submitted their bid were not allowed to participate due to Minister of Energy and Minerals suspension order.

Energy and Minerals Minister, Professor Sospeter Muhongo ordered Sahara Energy to clean up over 18,500 metric tons of contaminated Jet A1 supplied to four oil marketing companies last month.

Prof Muhongo warned the Nigerian based company which has denied any wrongdoing and accused the OMCs of sabotage saying the Jet A1 was officially tested and certified by Tanzania Bureau of Standards prior to being offloaded, of risking having their business license revoked.

Puma Energy (T) Ltd, Oilcom (T) Ltd, Engen Tanzania Ltd and GBP Tanzania Ltd have all demanded that Jet A1 supplied to their facilities by Sahara be withdrawn and the supplier clean up the pipes and tanks.

Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority have since started an investigation whose repor
