The three winners, Abdulrazak Abdallah from Zanzibar who won 15m/-, Emma Kauka of Dar es Salaam who took home 25m/- and Sadiki Kilipamwambu who pocketed 50m/- were announced during the weekend when the final draw was held in Dar es Salaam.
Speaking after receiving a dummy cheque of his cash prize from Tigo acting Director for Coast Zone, Deogratias David, Abdallah said the cash prize came at the right time as he faces a number of challenges requiring financial muscles to solve.
“I have received this surprise prize as special gift that God which has come through Tigo. I will spend part of the money to renovate my house that I live in which is currently in bad shape not habitable at all,” he said.
Tigo’s Coast Zone Director David said, the mobile phone services company was delighted to see ‘Tigo Jigiftishe’ promotion come to an end having changed lives of many customers for the better through cash prizes.
“In 45 days of the promotion, we have disbursed a total of 600m/- to our customers. We are happy to see that the money has acted as catalyst in improving and changing lives of some of our customers,” Davis noted.
The two months held during the Christmas and New Year season has seen 450 millionaires being made in the 45 days after using Tigo Pesa platform to transact without any condition attached.
Tigo customers who reloaded, cash-in on Tigo Pesa or bought good and services using the platform won 1m/- daily, 10m/- weekly before the grand prize of 50m/-.
