Masha Mshomba, WCF director-general said this yesterday that there has been a positive response from the employers who are seeking to know the fund’s operations especially on how to register and submit their concern or claims through the newly Online Registration System-WCF Portal (ORS).
“In has been a great time hosting a good number of employers here, we have showcased and explained our services to them especially the newly established ones that are available online. The new online system simplifies activities as it enables employers to register online but also submit their claims as soon as an employee gets injured at job for timely compensations,” he said.
Mshomba added that since it started operation some years ago, the Fund has helped to address various challenges that employees are facing while creating and supervising for a conducive working environment.
“Both employers and employees now work and live comfortably as they are sure of their guaranteed protection from WCF especially during disasters, those who get disabilities due to occupational accidents and illness are compensated fairly and on time,” he said.
The new improvements done within the Fund align with the President John Magufuli’s vision where he is eager to see all public entities use online systems to operate so as to reduce costs and improve efficiency for the country’s development.
The state-owned WCF established in accordance with Section 5 of the Workers Compensation Act (Cap 263 Revised Edition of 2015) with its main purpose being to provide for adequate and equitable compensation for employees who suffer occupational injuries or contract occupational diseases arising out of and in the course of their employment and in case of death, for their dependants.
