Speaking to reporters yesterday Tabora Regional Police Commander Barnabasi Mwakalukwa said that the incident happened on September 6 this year at around 5.30pm in Kaliua District, Tabora Region.
RPC Mwakalukwa said that police were tipped off by a Good Samaritan who was grazing cattle at the area. He said upon receiving the information, police rushed to the area where they found eight people dead, three among them are aged between 25 and 45 years.
He said the other bodies were children aged between 2 and 10 years.
According to him, the deceased belongs to one family and that they were unnecessarily torched by unknown people.
He said that police are still investigating the matter while hunting for the people who committed the offence. He called upon Tabora residents to avoid engaging in unlawful acts especially during this period when the country prepares for the general election.
