“You have been accorded with huge trust to oversee revolution in the agricultural sector in the country. You are doing good work to enable small scale farmers increase production of crops,” said Prof Luoga.
The BoT governor was speaking at the Agricultural, Livestock and Fisheries Exhibition (Nanenane) held at national level at Nyakabindi Stadium in Simiyu Region, during which he also hailed TADB cooperation with other banks and commercial institutions to strengthen the agricultural sector.
“As the only government’s bank, you have a big responsibility to improve the agricultural sector and the country’s economy in general by assisting farmers to undertake gainful projects for the national development,” Prof Luoga said.
He also said he was pleased by various banks and other financial institutions at the exhibition, adding that the exhibition is the area where big stakeholders in agriculture, livestock and fisheries sectors were to be found.
TADB Manager for Lake Zone Mike Granta who represented the bank’s Managing Director Japhet Justine said as a bank, they are well mobilised to improve the agriculture, livestock and fisheries sectors.
“TADB presence here has quenched the thirst of many farmers, livestock keepers and fishermen as they were able to learn how TADB was working with them to strengthen the sectors as well as contributing to the industrial sector,” Granta said.
TADB participation in the exhibition at both national and zonal levels attracted many farmers and herders as they had the opportunity to understand services and products offered by the bank.
Ezekiel Maduhu, a small scale cotton farmer from Kwimba District in Mwanza Region hailed TADB for the revival of cooperatives.
