The Director General for the Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau (PCCB) Brigadier General John Mbungo has issued a stern warning against would be offenders ahead of tomorrow’s General Election.
Speaking to reporters yesterday in the nation’s administrative capital Dodoma, Brigadier General Mbungo said the bureau is well prepared to take swift action against corrupt officials.
He was emphatic, “…we have a well distributed network, we will take rigorous action against anyone who dares to break the law.”
He said the bureau has been issuing various corruption awareness trainings and workshops across the country and as such “…people should take into account all that the PCCB has taught them and abide by the law.”
"We need to see people adhering to the law, we expect everyone to exercise their constitutional right but we also expect them to do so in accordance to the law. There should not be any attempts towards corruption in any form," warned the Brigadier General.
Tanzanians will be going to the polls early tomorrow morning to vote in their 6th president since the country got independence in 1961.
The incumbent President John Magufuli is vying for a second term under the ruling party CCM ticket while lead opposition leader Tundu Lissu seeks executive office for the first time under the CHADEMA ticket. Competing for the Executive Office are a total 15 contenders.
