Prof Mkenda said yesterday when speaking to reporters soon after welcoming the visiting delegation from Finland lead by the Minister Development and International Cooperation and Trade Ville Skinnari.
He said the government welcomed the opportunities available in Finland given its fast experiences to Finland’s forest sector.
Prof Mkenda assured Finland that the government has put in place a friendly investment and businesses environment.
“Apart from Zanzibar and Northern Tourism Circuit , there are also great opportunities from the Southern Circuit, and we would like to see them developed. Therefore we invite you to come and visit and see for yourselves on how they you will invest and by doing so they you also advertise our tourism attractions in other Scandinavian countries,” he said.
He also said the two countries have agreed to increase the number of tourists to visit Tanzania in the coming years.
On his part, Skinnari, the Finnish minister said Tanzania and Finland have been cooperating for over 50 years in various fields and as of now they are exploring on how to strengthen the long time cooperation.
Skinnari said that on the issue of industries, his country has made huge strides especially in the forests sector, and in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), some of the areas they aim to cooperate with Tanzania.
