Grab opportunities in farming and livestock keeping, RC urges youths

TABORA Regional Commissioner Dr Philemon Sengati has urged youth to fully utilise existing opportunities in farming, livestock keeping and craftsmanship in order to employ themselves for income generation.

He made the call yesterday during his official visit in Igunga District to inspect various development projects.

The RC said the youth in Igunga have no excuse to loiter or sit at jobless corners because they have opportunities in farming, livestock keeping and craftsmanship that can change their lives and the district if they decide to grab them.

He mentioned the Mwamapuli irrigation scheme, fish farming enabled by big quantities of fish fingerlings breeding site at Mwamapuli Aquaculture Development Centre at Igunga including joining vocational training colleges.

Dr Sengati also directed livestock officers in Igunga District to ensure they provide training to livestock keepers for better breeding to have profitable livestock.

He said a lot of cattle in the area are low priced because of their small size that does not benefit livestock keepers at all.

He said it is the responsibilities of livestock officers to ensure livestock keepers have cattle that will enable them earn bigger income for their better lives.
