Simanjiro District Commissioner Mahmoud Kambona said for the first time the event has been organised in Mirerani, the only place on earth where tanzanite is mined.
He asked miners and traders in the district and other parts of the city to show up in big numbers to the two-day exhibition in order to expand their market and also advertise Mirerani mining sector as opposed to this year, often such fairs are held in Arusha City.
“This is an important opportunity for stakeholders and a rare occasion for the mining sector in Simanjiro; thus, we must respond positively to this opportunity,” he said.
For his part, Mirerani resident mining officer Henry Miti said preparation for the exhibition was progressing well and what was pending now was the actual date of the event.
He said he had informed many people involved with the exhibition, including miners and buyers in the northern region to facilitate the one-of-a-kind event.
“The miners and gemstones buyers must come in big numbers to trade in the precious stone,” the DC appealed.
