NEW PROJECT TO RESOLVE KATAVI WATER SHORTAGE

A new water source has been inaugurated in Mpanda Municipaltiy, Katavi Region. Speaking to journalists after the inauguration, Regional Commissioner Juma Homera, the new water source will greatly reduce water shortages in the region, when the distribution infrastructure is completed.

We are now looking forward to the completion of the water tank from which the water will be disbursed to the villages,” he said.

Detailing on progress of the construction work, the RC said already the construction work is well underway and there remain only 25 Km to get to Mpanda town.

This project has the capacity to produce 3 million litres while the water demand for Mpanda Municipality is only 1 million and 1.5 million litres, hence the project is expected to complete resolve the water issues in the area and its vicinities.

However, the project is being stalled due to the huge 455m/ that is owed to the project contractor. The RC reassured stakeholders that the debt information will be delivered to the responsible Minister for Water for quick redress.
