Mwanza Regional Police Commander Jonathan Shanna said yesterday that the robbers were killed during a fierce exchange of fire with the police after a foiled attempt to rob traders in the area.

“Having seen a heavy security presence in Mwanza, these robbers sought to conduct house to house robberies in the island,” the RPC said.

He said following a tip off from a Good Samaritan the police made their own investigations and managed to track them through the villages of Igalla, Buhima and Bwasa in the early hours of Saturday.
