THE Electoral Institute for Sustainable Democracy in Africa (EISA) yesterday gave its report on Tanzania’s general election, pointing out a number of shortcomings.

The report unveiled in Dar es Salaam noted among other things, limited access to information and arrest of opposition leaders as areas of weakness in the polls held on Wednesday.

In its preliminary findings, conclusions and recommendations the EISA International Election Observer Mission (EIOM) was concerned with limited public access to information, which is not in line with regional and international standards and best practices in regard to freedom of information.

This is thefourth time IEOM is deployed by EISA to oversee elections in Tanzania. For the 2020 elections, EISA deployed 14 international observers.....for more information visit
